Ethics Panel Seeks Privacy Protection for Donors of Human Tissue Samples
The federal government should tighten rules for protecting the privacy of human subjects whose tissue samples are used in research, according to a report by the National Bioethics Advisory Commission.
Scientists and institutional review boards should be required to insure that patients give informed consent for such research if the samples contain identifying information, the Presidentially appointed commission said.
