Enticing Conservatives Into Academe
To the Editor:
Your article "Conservatives Just Aren't Into Academe, Study Finds" (The Chronicle, February 22) states that students of the humanities and social sciences are most likely to pursue doctoral studies and professorships, and that a large majority of those students are liberal. Granted.
One reason for this may be that there are very few liberal-arts programs that conservative students would tolerate, causing them to search for other courses of academic study.
