English U.'s Invoke Power to Raise Tuition
Most universities in England are taking full advantage of controversial new legislation that allows them to charge undergraduates tuition of up to £3,000 a year, or nearly $5,800. That amount, which is more than double what students pay now, will be partly offset for needy students by an increase in financial aid.
