Energy Secretary Resigns His Post

Among the resignations from President Bush's cabinet last week was Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham.

Mr. Abraham, who cited family and personal commitments as the reasons for his departure, will probably be best remembered by college administrators for his decision in 2003 to open the contract for managing the beleaguered Los Alamos National Laboratory to competitive bidding after a series of reports chronicled mismanagement and security lapses at the lab.
