Endowments Celebrate a Streak
For the fourth year in a row, college investments show positive returns
The return of college endowments from the depths of the market earlier this decade continued to gain momentum in the past fiscal year.
Endowments returned an average of 10.7 percent in the 2006 fiscal year, up from the previous year's return of 9.3 percent. It was the fourth consecutive year of gains on endowment investments, following two years of negative returns in 2001 and 2002.
