End of Ban on Federal Student Aid for Most Online Institutions Provokes Few Changes
Six months after the demise of a rule that had prevented most online institutions from participating in federal financial-aid programs, few colleges have taken advantage of the change.
According to Kay W. Gilcher, senior education-policy analyst for the Education Department's Office of Postsecondary Education, only two online institutions have moved to join the aid programs — Excelsior College and American Public University.
