Embryos Get 'Human Subjects' Status as Part of Federal Research Protections

A few weeks after it effectively disbanded a federal commission charged with protecting human research subjects, the Bush administration has revised the charter of the panel that replaced the commission to include unborn human embryos in the definition of "human subjects" worthy of protection in research.
