Elite Colleges Struggle to Prevent Student Suicides
Counseling centers are flooded, but some students still slip through the cracks
By Eric Plosky's count, at least 16 students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have committed suicide in the past 15 years. Mr. Plosky, who graduated from M.I.T. in June, compiled the total by searching the archives of The Tech, the student newspaper, after students leaped to their deaths from campus buildings in March 1998 and February 1999. He added No. 16 to the list
