Elite Colleges Lag in Serving Needy Students

Some affluent colleges and universities are increasing financial aid to needy students, but the proportions of such students on many of those campuses remain small, and most rich colleges are doing a poor job of reaching the students with the least. Those are some of the findings of a special report in this week’s Chronicle that forms Part 2 of The Growing Divide, a series on the haves and have-nots of American higher education.
