Eliminating Remedial Courses in College Is Not the Way to Raise Standards

The essay by Lois Cronholm was grossly misleading in many ways ("Why One College Jettisoned All Its Remedial Courses," Opinion, September 24). Although, as Dr. Cronholm said, "Baruch College removed remedial courses on its own initiative," it most certainly did not do away with remediation, as she implied.
