Edwards Calls for $8-Billion Student-Aid Program

John Edwards, a candidate for the Democratic nomination for president, announced on Friday an $8-billion plan to make college more affordable for students who work part time. The effort would be based on a pilot program, called “College for Everyone,” that he started in Greene County, N.C., and described in an interview last year with The Chronicle. —Jeffrey Selingo
