Educator and Activist Is Sentenced in Tunisia
Scholars are protesting the sentencing late last month of a Tunisian human-rights activist and educator to 12 months in prison on charges of belonging to a forbidden group and disseminating false information "likely to disturb the public order."
The educator, Moncef Marzouki, remains free while he is appealing the decision, but he is not allowed to leave Tunisia.
Mr. Marzouki, a spokesman for the National Council on Liberties in Tunisia, was dismissed
