Education-Improvement Fund Loses Its Chief
The director of the embattled Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education resigned last week to accept the presidency of Colgate University. Charles Karelis said in an interview that his move had nothing to do with a controversy that arose in January about grants awarded by FIPSE.
Small but well-regarded, FIPSE has given colleges competitive grants since 1972 to develop innovations in higher education.
