Education Dept. Will Award 39 Fellowships That Were Mistakenly Promised
In a reversal, the Education Department decided last week that it would provide Jacob K. Javits Fellowships to 39 humanities students who were mistakenly told they had won the prestigious awards.
"We feel that it is the right thing to do given the mistake that was made," said Erica Lepping, a department spokeswoman.
