Education Dept. Toughens Loan-Forgiveness Policy in Disability Cases
To the dismay of college lobbyists, the Education Department issued regulations last week that will toughen the process of securing loan forgiveness for borrowers who suffer permanent disabilities, or for families of indebted students who die. But the department said it will wait a year before enforcing the disability rule.
