Education Dept. May Limit Prominent Grant Program
The U.S. Education Department is considering narrowing the scope of the grants competition run by the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education.
Under the proposed changes, the competition would emphasize projects like improving teacher education, increasing students' access to college, and promoting partnerships between schools and colleges. The revisions are meant to support President Bush's agenda for changes in the education system.
