Education Dept. Allows Accreditor to Evaluate Distance-Education Programs
The U.S. Department of Education agreed last month to let the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology accredit distance-education programs. Last year, the committee that evaluates accreditors' compliance with the department's standards questioned whether the commission had the expertise to assess online programs.
