Education Dept. Allows Company to Grow
The Career Education Corporation, which the U.S. Department of Education had barred from opening new campuses during a student-aid investigation, announced last week that department had lifted the 18-month-old freeze.
The announcement was a rare bit of good news for the company, which has been dogged by declining enrollment and continuing questions from accreditors and federal regulators about its admissions and educational practices.
