Education Dept. Agrees to Disclose Data on Drug Offenders Who Were Denied Student Aid

The U.S. Department of Education has mellowed in its stance toward sharing data with a group that promotes more-lenient drug laws.

Last week Students for a Sensible Drug Policy announced that the department dropped its demands that the group pay a $4,100 processing fee to obtain a state-by-state breakdown of the number of students who were denied federal financial aid because they were convicted of drug offenses.
