Education Department's Student-Aid Office Will Scrap Computer System
The Education Department will abandon one of the 11 computer systems that are used to manage student-aid programs, officials announced last week.
Department officials, who have come under fire for their reluctance to update an arcane computer network, said that the move was the start of a wider consolidation of computer networks that could make it easier for colleges and students to get the information and funds they need.
