Education Department Report Urges Better Teacher Training
Colleges must make teacher education a much higher priority in order to meet an urgent demand for more and better teachers during the coming decade, according to a report released last week by the Department of Education.
Schools in the United States will need to hire 2.2 million more teachers during the next decade be cause of retirements and increasing enrollments, Education Secretary Richard W. Riley said.
