Education Department Pulls the Plug on Novel Way to Deliver Student Aid
Colleges shunned 'Access America,' but agency says it points way to future modernization
Speaking at an international conference last year on the use of technology to enhance government services, Vice President Al Gore unveiled Access America for Students, a federal program designed to allow students to control their financial-aid accounts over the World Wide Web.
