Education Department Plans to Set Aside College-Innovation Money for Special Projects
Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings plans to set aside for focused competitions almost half of the money budgeted this year for the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education, leaving only $3.4-million for the general grant competition, a program officer at the fund said last week.
An official in the department's policy office said no decisions had been made on how to spend the money for the 2007 fiscal year.
