Education Department Fines Miami U.
The U.S. Education Department has fined Miami University, in Ohio, $27,500 for failing to give sexual-assault victims written notice of the outcomes of disciplinary proceedings arising from their cases.
This past summer the department found that the university had violated the Clery Act, a federal law that requires colleges and universities to disclose information about crimes on their campuses.
From 1999 to 2004 there were nine sexual-assault cases at Miami, but in six of them
