Education Department Fines College on Crime Law
For the first time, the U.S. Department of Education has fined a college for failing to comply with the Campus Security Act of 1990. The department ordered Mount St. Clare College to pay $25,000 for not adequately disclosing campus-crime statistics, among other problems.
The law requires colleges to report statistics on campus crime and information about their security policies. Campus-safety watchdogs have long complained that colleges have not taken the law
