East Tennessee State U. Will Cut Football Program After Fall Season
At East Tennessee State, $100 wouldn't be enough.
Faced with a $7.48-million reduction in state financing, the university decided to terminate its football program at the close of the 2003 season.
The team loses about $1-million annually, and East Tennessee State would have to invest $300,000 to $400,000 to make the program competitive with others in the Southern Conference, said a university spokesman.
