While I agree with Richard R. Beeman's points pertaining to the Constitutional Convention, I cannot help wonder if he does a bit of a disservice to the issue by looking only at the convention and not at the presidencies of the founding generation ("The Founding Fathers and Executive Power," The Chronicle Review, March 17). Although they differed as to motivations and methods, Washington, Adams, and even Jefferson all conducted their duties in a way that arguably adhered
