Early Applications Slowed in 2004
The proportion of colleges that reported a decrease in early-action applications tripled from 2003 to 2004, according to a national report on admissions. In 2003, 10 percent of colleges reported a decline in early-action applications from the previous year; in 2004, the proportion rose to 37 percent.
The "State of College Admission" report, released last week by the National Association for College Admission Counseling, analyzed the results of the group's annual surveys of admissions
