ETS to Pay $11-Million to Settle Lawsuit Over Teacher-Certification Test
The Educational Testing Service has agreed to pay $11.1-million to settle a class-action lawsuit brought by test takers who had received incorrect scores on an examination widely used by some states in teacher-licensing decisions, the company announced last week.
The settlement announcement, coming soon after disclosures by the College Board about scoring errors on the SAT, prompted new calls for a reassessment of the importance attached to high-stakes standardized tests.
