Duquesne U. Opposes Casino Near Campus
Duquesne University has come out against a proposal to build a casino just down the street from its campus.
The site, two and a half blocks from the campus, is near the present home of the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team. The team is working with Isle of Capri Casinos Inc., one of several companies vying for a single, newly available license to operate slot machines in the city. If the plans go through, the casino company will pay for a new hockey arena.
