Duke U. Taps Dean of Yale College for Presidency

The trustees of Duke University have chosen Richard H. Brodhead, a scholar of American literature and dean of Yale College, the undergraduate division of Yale University, to be the institution's next president.

Mr. Brodhead, 56, will take office at Duke in July. He will succeed Nannerl O. Keohane, Duke's respected current president, who said last winter that she would step down in 2004 to take a sabbatical and then return to scholarship after 11 years at Duke's helm and 13 years as the
