Duke Taps an Administrator for Town-Gown Relations; Rice Snags Historian-Author; Southern Cal Names a Law Dean

TOWN AND GOWN: Tensions between Duke University and the city surrounding it, Durham, N.C., reached a fever pitch last year when three of the university's white lacrosse players were charged with raping a black woman.
