Since the publication of Revolution in Texas, at least two other scholarly books have focused on the early history of the Texas Rangers.

The Texas Rangers and the Mexican Revolution: The Bloodiest Decade, 1910-1920 (University of New Mexico Press) was written by Charles H. Harris III and Louis R. Sadler, two emeritus professors of history at New Mexico State University at Las Cruces.
