Drexel U. to Offer Master's Programs in Sacramento

Drexel University’s long-considered plans to expand to California are becoming reality. The Philadelphia institution announced today that it would offer master’s programs at a new Center for Graduate Studies in Sacramento, beginning in January. Drexel is also establishing a $10-million fund for fellowships for students.

The university is also considering opening an undergraduate campus near Roseville, Calif., just northeast of Sacramento. Drexel began exploring that possibility last year after community leaders from the Greater Sacramento area approached the university’s president, Constantine Papadakis. Today’s announcement quotes Mr. Papadakis as saying that Drexel views the new graduate center “as the beginning of a long relationship with this region.” —Charles Huckabee
