Do Applicants' SAT Scores Tell Us What We Really Need to Know?
To the Editor:
I would like to offer three observations on the pair of essays about the SAT that appeared in the March 9 issue of The Review ("Eliminating the SAT Could Derail the Progress of Minority Students," by John H. McWhorter, and "Two Cheers for an End to the SAT," by Alfie Kohn).
First, neither article mentioned what I consider a highly compelling argument for no longer requiring students to take the SAT. The fact is that students who achieve high grade-point averages
