Diversifying Their Crops

Agriculture schools, focusing on job prospects, reach out to potential students from cities and suburbs

At first Stephanie Miller was offended when people asked her if she was studying how to call hogs or talk to cows. But over time, Ms. Miller, an agricultural-communication major at Purdue University here, learned to laugh off such questions. Her career plans have little to do with livestock.
