Distribution Requirements vs. a Core Curriculum

As a reader who almost always disagrees with everything written in The Chronicle, I feel obligated to write when a piece seems especially timely and on point. Barry Latzer's "Common Knowledge: the Purpose of General Education" (The Chronicle Review, October 8) is a rare breath of fresh air.
