Discrimination Justifies Racial Preferences
To the Editor:
Once again, a person who claims to be in favor of equal opportunity for everyone subjects us to an article attacking "preferences" in college-admissions practices ("President Bush Can't Just Ignore Racial Preferences," The Review, March 23). Roger Clegg bemoans what he considers the unfair and un-American practice of taking race into consideration when determining who is admitted to public colleges and universities, and then labeling it "preferences." ...
