Discovery of Adult Stem Cells' Versatility Complicates Debate on Research Policy
Scientists who support research on human embryonic stem cells may have a tougher case to make, because of a laboratory advance announced last month. A research group at the University of Minnesota Medical School found that some cells taken from adults are far more versatile than was previously thought, and may in fact be as changeable -- and possibly as medically useful -- as stem cells taken from embryos.
