Disappearing Contributions of Freelance Writers

As a full-time freelance writer for the past six years, whose work has appeared in ... many major newspapers and magazines, I was intrigued to read that historians and researchers are only now discovering what freelancers have known for many years -- that freelancers' contributions to the record are numerous and varied, covering virtually every conceivable subject ("Once-Trustworthy Newspaper Databases Have Become Unreliable and Frustrating," January 25).
