For-Profit Colleges' Management Companies: Meet the Directors

The Chronicle examined the corporate boards of 15 large publicly traded companies that own for-profit colleges, finding 130 members, excluding company officers, who served in 2009 or stepped down in the previous four years. Most of the directors, who control the companies together with officers and shareholders, have backgrounds in business and finance; others are former government regulators or retired or current leaders of nonprofit higher-education institutions.
