Direct-Lending Group Hires Full-Time Lobbyist
After six controversial years, the direct-loan program has decided it needs a hired gun. The National Direct Student Loan Coalition, a group of student-aid administrators that lobbies Congress and the Education Department on behalf of direct lending, is for the first time employing a full-time lobbyist.
Shelley Rodgers, formerly a legislative analyst for a law firm, will head up the coalition's new Washington office.
