Despite a Rise in Female Athletes, Fewer Head Coaches Are Women

Even though the number of women who participate in college athletics has risen sharply since Title IX became law, in 1972, the percentage of women's teams that have women as head coaches has declined during that same period, reaching its lowest point in 2002, according to a report released in August.
