Despite a Rise in Costs, College Radio Stations Keep the Streams Flowing
The cost for radio stations to stream their music broadcasts online is going up, much to the dismay of station managers.
But at college stations, when it comes to deciding between shutting down their Webcasts or paying the fees, managers are opting to pay — so far.
Commercial radio stations that do Webcasts are the hardest hit. The fees they pay the recording industry will rise from $0.0008 per song per online listener in 2006 to $0.0019 by 2010. For large Webcasters,
