Despite Vote for Adjuncts' Union, George Washington U. Fights On
For five years, Kip Lornell pounded the pavement around the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, trying to convince his fellow part-time professors at George Washington University that they should join a union for part-timers and bargain collectively with their employer.
This October, when a slim majority of the university's adjuncts voted in favor of that outcome in an election certified by the National Labor Relations Board, he figured his years of organizing had finally paid
