Despite Protests, U. of Toronto Closes Observatory
In the early 1970s, Tom Bolton, an astronomer working at the University of Toronto's David Dunlap Observatory, was the first to find strong physical evidence that black holes exist. Now, more than three decades later, the observatory seems to be disappearing into the black hole of unwanted facilities. The university is selling it, and officials gave Mr. Bolton and the rest of the staff until this month to get off the premises.
