Democrats Spar With White House Over Pell Grants
A dispute between Democratic lawmakers and the White House over spending on Pell Grants is holding up progress on a bill that would set the 2002 budgets of federal student-aid programs and the National Institutes of Health.
Both the House of Representatives and the Senate have approved bills that would raise the maximum Pell Grant by $250, to $4,000.
