Democrats Fight Accreditation Changes
Democrats in the House of Representatives are taking steps to prevent the Education Department from making changes in the accreditation process.
The House Appropriations Committee last week moved toward approval of a spending measure for the 2008 fiscal year that would prohibit the department from using any money to "promulgate, implement, or enforce" new regulations on accreditation.
Rep. David R. Obey, the Wisconsin Democrat who is chairman of the panel, added the restriction
