Democrats Announce Science Agenda
Warning that the United States is losing its edge in innovation, Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives proposed an ambitious agenda last week intended to ensure the nation's continued leadership in science and technology.
The $128-billion plan would double federal funds for the National Science Foundation, create regional "centers of excellence" for basic research, and establish a new agency within the Department of Energy to support fundamental research on alternative fuels
