Default Rate on Student Loans Drops for 6th Consecutive YearInstitutions That Could Lose Their Eligibility for Student Aid

1,065 institutions -- mostly trade schools -- have been barred from loan programs since 1993

The rate at which borrowers default on their student loans has dropped for the sixth consecutive year, Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley said last week.
